In an effort to provide ongoing development and support to our students, I am pleased to announce a new program for the 2017-2018 academic year. Men of Color, Honor and Ambition, or MOCHA, is a systemwide initiative coordinated by the UM System Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Participation in the program is open to all undergraduate male students between their second and fifth academic years of study at MU, UMKC, Missouri S&T and UMSL. MOCHA, specifically designed for students of color, aims to positively impact academic success, increase retention and develop successful leaders of tomorrow. I highly encourage you to consider your students, and nominate those who embody the five pillars of MOCHA: ambition, achievement, integrity, service, and health and wellness. Students also have the option of submitting their own application, so feel free to share program information with information students or student groups.
